Charlotte Guglielmi, RN
Charlotte Guglielmi is a Perioperative Nurse Specialist, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where she has been a perioperative nurse for 38 years. She has been the OR educator and a Clinical Nurse IV in several surgical specialties.
Ms. Guglielmi earned her diploma in nursing from Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing in Quincy, MA (1971). She completed her BSN at the University of Massachusetts at Boston (1989) and her Master of Arts in Ministry from St. John’s Seminary (2007). Ms. Guglielmi has been a member of AORN since 1985. Active locally, she served as President of AORN Massachusetts Chapter 1 (1994 – 1996). On the National level she is the 2009 – 2010 President-Elect having previously served as AORN Vice President (2006 – 2008), Secretary (2004 – 2006) and as a member of the Board of Directors (2002 – 2004) as well as on numerous committees including the President’s Commission on Patient Safety.
Presently she represents AORN on the Council of Surgical and Perioperative Safety and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Development of High Performance Teamwork in Surgery through Education. She has presented at numerous national conferences as well as authoring several articles and book chapters. She identifies being the 2001 recipient of the AORN Award for Outstanding Achievement in Perioperative Clinical Practice as one of her highest achievements.
